Mornings over Mendenhall

The Early I Will Seek You team reveals the awe-inspiring beauty of Mendenhall Glacier in southeastern Alaska during the magical moments of early morning. The drone’s flight over the 12-mile-long (19 km) blue ice sheet captures the glacier’s stunning contrast against the surrounding wilderness. Originally named Sitaantaagu (“the Glacier Behind the Town”) or Aak’wtaaksit (“the Glacier Behind the Little Lake”) by the Tlingit Indians, the glacier was later called Auke Glacier by naturalist John Muir, after the Auk Kwaan band of Tlingit Indians. This breathtaking view reminds us of the majesty of God’s creation and the deep history woven into the landscape.
